Proclamations Establishing May 2024 as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month and Recognizing the 20th Anniversary of Arapahoe County Open Spaces

Purpose and Request:

The Board of County Commissioners is requested to adopt a proclamation establishing May 2024 as Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month and a proclamation recognizing the 20th Anniversary of Arapahoe County Open Spaces.

Background and Discussion: In late 2022, the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC) approved a process to issue proclamations that meet the following criteria:

                     Highlight items of importance related to Arapahoe County services, employee recognition or the County’s strategic plan;

                     Promote an issue that impacts a broad range of Arapahoe County residents or employees;

                     Made by an Arapahoe County resident, employee or elected official.

The attached proclamation met the above requirements and were determined eligible for approval by the Board of County Commissioners.

Concurrence: These proclamations are issued in concurrence with the County’s Human Resources and Open Spaces Departments.
