Background and Discussion: On April 26, 2021, the Board of County Commissioners established the Homeless Coordinating Committee (HCC) to address the crisis of homelessness within Arapahoe County. The HCC was established through the coordination efforts of a diverse group of local partners. The primary goal of the HCC is to develop a plan to address homelessness and affordable housing in partnership with over 150 local organizations and governmental agencies. In March of 2022, the Homeless Coordinating Committee conducted annual meetings to create a more comprehensive and coordinated response to homelessness in the County and to build lasting solutions. The drafted plan was released on June 14, 2023, to the Homeless Coordinating Committee and partnering organizations. During these meetings an overview of the plan was presented, draft recommendations discussed, and questions were answered. On January 9, 2024, the BOCC approved to move 2024-2026 Homeless Coordinating Committee Strategic Plan to the consent agenda for adoption.
