Background and Discussion: Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) was awarded a grant from the Colorado Department of Law (DOL) and the Opioid Response Unit (ORU) as part of  the Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in Jail and Connections to the Community

Recognition awards, which is a funding opportunity from the State Share of Opioid Settlement

Funds. These funds go towards providing medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) and connections to community upon release from jail. Grant would start on October 1, 2024, and help amplify the program already in operation.

Alternatives: The alternative is not to accept this grant and absorb the cost of these medications into the general fund.

Fiscal Impact: The grant will cover $50,000 of medications used in the Detention Facility.

Alignment with Strategic Plan:

                     ☒Be fiscally sustainable

                     ☒Provide essential and mandated service

                     ☒Be community focused

Concurrence: The Sheriff’s Office Detention and Administration Bureaus are in concurrence with this decision.
