Purpose and Request:

recommended action

The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the Board of County Commissioners approve and authorize Sheriff Brown to sign the Department of Revenue End User License Agreement, per the Department of Revenue.

end

Background and Discussion: The Colorado Department of Revenue requires law enforcement agencies to annually sign the Colorado Drive License, Record, Identification and vehicle Enterprise Solution End User License Agreement. Signing this agreement provides the Sheriff’s Office with access to DMV records and crash data. The authorized signer of this agreement also agrees that no information will be shared with the Federal government for Federal Immigration Enforcement.

The Board heard this item at a meeting on September 9, 2024, and approved adding it to the consent agenda for formal approval.

Fiscal Impact:  There is no financial cost to signing this agreement.

Alternatives: Not signing this agreement would eliminate the Sheriff’s Office access to DMV records and crash data used by deputies during investigative and enforcement efforts.

Alignment with Strategic Plan:

                     ☐Be fiscally sustainable

                     ☒Provide essential and mandated service

                     ☐Be community focused

Staff Recommendation: The Sheriff’s Office Administration and Command Staff recommends this agreement be approved.

Concurrence: The Sheriff’s Office Administration, Command Staff and County Attorney’s Office, support this proposal.
