recommended action

Background and Discussion: Throughout 2024, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office has been under a trial period of 25 mounted FLOCK license plate reader cameras. The camera system was permitted through Arapahoe County/City of Centennial and, over the past year, has proven very valuable in locating stolen vehicles and wanted subjects in our service area. When we entered into this contract with FLOCK over a year ago, it was laid out in detail that we would use the cameras for the one-year trial period after which we would pay for the cameras each year at the cost of $3,000.00 per camera.

The recommendation and request from the agency is that we sign the contract for 2025 and fund the cameras using approved seizure funds.

Alternatives: The alternative is for the Sheriff's Office to discontinue use of the FLOCK cameras which would not only negate all the installation and permitting work that has been done but would negatively impact operations as we would no longer receive notifications of stolen vehicles and wanted subjects in the areas we provide police services to.
