The Board of County Commissioners is requested to adopt a resolution approving and authorizing the Chair to sign the two Agreements for Services between Arapahoe County and Lexis Nexis to provide online legal research access to Arapahoe County Detention Facility (ACDF) inmates and staff.

Background and Discussion: The Lexis Nexis Prison Solution has provided online legal research access to the inmates and library staff at ACDF for many years.
Inmates at ACDF are able to access Law Library materials and perform legal research on dayroom kiosks through the Lexis Nexis Prison Solution subscription maintained by the Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff's Office wants to renew this annual subscription beginning on January 1, 2025, through December 31, 2025. Prior to signatures, each extension will go through the Contract Insight System, including approvals from the Budget Division reviewing for available dollars in the department budget, the Purchasing Manager reviewing to make sure the purchasing process was followed, Risk Management reviewing for insurance requirements, and the County Attorney reviewing for any legal issues.
Alternatives: The alternative would be to let this long-standing subscription lapse and try to provide legal materials to inmates by some other means.
Fiscal Impact: The $1,132.00 monthly cost of the contract is included in the General Fund Budget for 2025 for the total cost of $13,584.
