Background and Discussion: Two years ago, ACG embarked on the modernization of its server and storage infrastructure by adopting cloud technology. Initially, it was believed that the existing aged storage would not require updates and could be managed within the cloud. However, during the process, it became clear that not all server infrastructure could be migrated due to dependencies on old business processes and applications not optimized for cloud environments. While the original scope of the Google Cloud project did not include data storage replacements of this scale, the current on-premises storage systems are now failing and require immediate replacement. Establishing asset numbers now will enable the use of existing appropriations projected to remain unspent by year-end.
More specifically, the NetApp (storage) hardware at both the Administration Building and the Sheriff's Office data centers requires replacement. Each site needs a NetApp C800 SAN (Storage Area Network) and a NetApp Cluster Switch, totaling four asset numbers. We seek Board approval to establish these asset numbers to replace the current on-premises data storage systems. The cost breakdown is $245,647 for each NetApp C800 SAN and $77,808 for each NetApp Cluster Switch, totaling $646,909 for all four assets. Fund 70 currently has sufficient appropriation to cover these purchases until the appropriation can be backfilled during the fourth quarter budget review. A...
