Purpose and Request:

recommended action

As a result of planned and approved space consolidation of Arapahoe/Douglas Works! at Lima Plaza to consolidate all staff and public services from two buildings to a one building, 6974 S.  Lima St., new meeting room names are required for the updated and new rooms in the building. We are requesting BOCC review and approval of suggested room names for this project.

Background and Discussion: To support business needs with the Arapahoe/Douglas Works! Space consolidation at Lima Plaza, several new meeting and training rooms have been constructed at 6974 S. Lima St. Following updated County guidelines for the process of naming rooms, names have been selected that are in alignment, avoiding any options that are related to present or historical individuals, and they are not existing names of other County meeting rooms based on the available list in the Outlook Directory.

On the public side of the building, we are suggesting a mix of retaining existing training room names and adding names for newly constructing training and meeting rooms. On the staff side of the building, we are suggesting a mix of existing meeting room names to be relocated from 6964 S. Lima St. to 6974 S. Lima St. to retain those names for Arapahoe/Douglas Works! and adding names for newly constructed meeting rooms. This would allow Public Health to name the meeting rooms in 6964 S. Lima St. according to their business needs and preferences once they move into the space. Meeting room names on the public side are those of 14ers in Colorado that are not tied to individuals, based on a compiled report from Denver 7 News (attached). Training and staff meeting room names are positive business terms associated with our scope of work and organization objectives.

Proposed customer meeting room names: La Plata Peak, Quandary Peak, Maroon Peak, Sunlight Peak, Crestone Peak, Pyramid Peak, Capitol Peak, and Snowmass.
Proposed new training room and staff meeting room names: Excellence, Impact, Community, Collaboration, and Inspiration.
Existing room names to be relocated from 6964 S. Lima St. to 6974 S. Lima St.: Huddle, Pulse, Innovation, and ADW! Wellbeing Room.
Remaining existing room names that will be unchanged in 6974 S. Lima St.: Metro, Colorado, Generations, Business Assessment Center, and Economic Development Hub.

Fiscal Impact: Cost of room signage is already built into the current space consolidation project.

Alternatives: Relatively quick action is needed to maintain the current project completion timeline for the space consolidation project and for continuity of business services in the new space. If these names are not approved, we will work to provide alternatives.

Alignment with Strategic Plan:

                     Be fiscally sustainable

                     Provide essential and mandated service

                     Be community focused

Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends the proposed room names for Arapahoe/Douglas Works! at 6974 S. Lima St. be approved.

Concurrence: FFM concurs with the recommendations for room naming made in this report.
