Purpose and Request:

Request the Board of County Commissioners to authorize the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners and the Arapahoe County Sheriff to sign the 2025 Fire Operating Plan.

Background and Discussion: The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) plays an active role in the development and implementation of the Fire Operating Plan. OEM coordinates this Plan in accordance with statewide best practices and through guidance from the Division of Fire Prevention and Control. The purpose of the Arapahoe County Fire Operating Plan is to provide guidelines to plan, manage, and recover from wildland fires in Arapahoe County. The Fire Operating Plan includes sections on pre-fire planning, managing the incident, and cost recovery pertinent to a wildfire incident. Also included are procedures for requesting state and federal resources to combat and recover from wildland fire in Arapahoe County.
Fiscal Impact: Plan adoption allows access to wildland fire reimbursement funds.
Alternatives: The alternative is not signing this plan. As a result, the County would be ineligible for State reimbursement funds.
