The Board is requested to approve an agreement for services with Armored Knights to provide armored car services for the pickup and deposit of county moneys, and authority for the County Treasurer to execute the agreement and any applicable extensions and amendments. This item was presented to the Board at a drop-in on September 20, 2022 and approved for placement on consent agenda.

Background and Discussion: In 2017, Arapahoe County entered into a contract with Dunbar Courier Services for armored car pickup services. In August 2018, Dunbar was purchased by Brinks. Brinks would not honor the rates agreed to by Dunbar. Beginning in January, 2021, upon expiration of the original contract with Dunbar which had been assumed by Brinks, Arapahoe County attempted to negotiate a new contract with Brinks. Despite ongoing efforts for a over a year, a new contract was not negotiated, and Brinks has stopped responding to our requests. The contract with Brinks has been terminated effective September 30, 2022.

There are very few companies large enough to handle the County's needs for pickup services. The County has previously had contracts with Loomis and Garda. Both contracts were cancelled early due to poor service.

Armored Knights has been in business since 1988. They offer security and armored courier services in six states. They are currently being used by the City and County of Denver, Weld County and Larimer County, among others. Due to the extremely limited numbers of qualified firms, Arapahoe County is piggybacking on the Denver County RFP rather that doing an RFP of our own.
