Purpose and Request:
recommended action
The Sheriff’s Office requests the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) to authorize the Chair of the Board of County Commissioners to sign an Agreement for the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office to appoint a Deputy Sheriff to the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) from June 21, 2022 to September 30, 2022 and to authorize the Arapahoe County Sheriff to sign any amendments and extensions.

Background and Discussion: Our Task Force Deputy assigned to DEA/FIT (financial crimes) is currently working a highly involved case that will likely incur several hours of overtime. By entering into this agreement, the Sheriff’s Office may request reimbursement from the DEA for any overtime incurred as a result of this case.
Alternatives: Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office could decline to get reimbursed and pay the overtime out of our own budget.
Fiscal Impact: There is only financial benefit for Arapahoe County by receiving overtime reimbursement.
Alignment with Strategic Plan:
☒Be fiscally sustainable
☐Provide essential and mandated service
☒Be community focused
Concurrence: All members in the Task Force chain of command concur with asking for reimbursement for any overtime incurred during the investigation.
Resolution: Attached is a copy of the draft resolution.
