Admission to Arapahoe County Fire Lane Program - Innovate at Dove Valley

The property owner of Innovate at Dove Valley is requesting to enter into the Arapahoe County Fire Lane Program. South Metro Fire Rescue has determined that in the interest of safety and district fire code, certain areas in Innovate at Dove Valley should be designated as fire lanes. These areas are noted in the attached exhibit.

Background and Discussion: Cars parked in narrow lanes can block the access of emergency vehicles. Therefore, Fire Districts require specific Fire Lanes be designated in certain areas to dimensions allowing larger fire equipment to pass. By entering into the Arapahoe County Fire Lane Program, the property owner requests fire lanes be designated and enforceable on private property by Arapahoe County.
The Transportation Division has reviewed the attached request and supports and recommends approval of this resolution. The Board of County Commissioners has the authority pursuant to section 42-4-1210, C.R.S. to designate areas on private property for authorized vehicles. The Board of County Commissioners also has authority pursuant to 18-9-117, C.R.S. to adopt rules for regulating use of public property.
Fiscal Impact: There is no fiscal impact to Arapahoe County for signs if this request is approved. The property owner of Innovate at Dove Valley will be responsible for installation and maintenance of the signage and striping under the Arapahoe County Fire Lane program.
