Background and Discussion:  Pursuant to Section 20-1-301, C.R.S., the Boards of County Commissioners must set the annual salary of the District Attorney of the Eighteenth Judicial District for the succeeding four-year term. The salary for this position must be fixed prior to the beginning of the term in office and cannot be changed thereafter.

The Board met with District Attorney-Elect Padden to review comparable salaries of elected officials from adjacent judicial districts as well as the historical salary of the current District Attorney.

The Commissioners and District Attorney-Elect discussed salary proposals, reaching consensus on the following annual salary for his term beginning in January 2025 and ending January 2028 as follows:

                     2025: $250,000.00, plus a one-time payment of $2,500.00 for COBRA coverage

2026: $260,000.00

2027: $270,400.00

2028: $281,216.00

This represents an annual increase of 4%.
