Purpose and Request:
recommended action
The property owner for Copperleaf Filing No.31, Lot 1, Arapahoe County Case #ASP24-008, King Soopers is requesting to enter into the Arapahoe County Fire Lane Program. South Metro Fire District has determined that in the interest of safety and district fire code, certain drive areas in King Soopers site plan should be designated as fire lanes. These areas are noted in the attached exhibit.
end
Background and Discussion: Cars parked in narrow lanes can block the access of emergency vehicles. Therefore, Fire Districts require specific Fire Lanes be designated in certain areas to dimensions allowing larger fire equipment to freely pass. By entering into the Arapahoe County Fire Lane Program, the property owner requests fire lanes be designated and enforceable on private property by Arapahoe County.
Alternatives: The Board of County Commissioners may either approve or deny the request.
Fiscal Impact: There is no fiscal impact to Arapahoe County for signs if this request is approved. The property owner will be responsible for installation and maintenance of the signage and striping under the Arapahoe County Fire Lane program.
Alignment with Strategic Plan:
☒Be fiscally sustainable
☒Provide essential and mandated service
☒Be community focused
Concurrence: Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and South Metro Fire District support this resolution.
Resolution: Attached is a copy of the draft resolution.
