Approval of resolution authorizing settlement of Sandi Aboras Notice of Claim

Purpose and Request:
recommended action
The County received a Notice of Claim on behalf of Sandi Aboras related to a traffic stop on or around February 13, 2025. This BSR and the accompanying resolution seek the Board’s formal approval of the settlement the parties agreed to, a review of which was previously provided to the Board in executive session.

Background and Discussion: The Aboras claims were raised in a Notice of Claim dated July 28, 2025. An agreement between all parties resolving the need for any litigation has been reached.
Alternatives: Allow the case to proceed to litigation or continue to negotiate a different resolution.
Fiscal Impact: This has been previously discussed with the Board. This settlement agreement will obviate future litigation costs and future potential claims against the County and is offset by other department savings.

Concurrence: The County Attorney has endorsed the proposed agreement.
