Background and Discussion: Vacancies on the Cultural Council have been a recurring issue for the positions representing Unincorporated Arapahoe County. During the Cultural Council’s board meeting on January 2, 2025, members discussed the ongoing challenge of filling these vacancies and proposed a solution. After careful consideration, the board approved a change to the bylaws that would convert the two Unincorporated Arapahoe County positions into at-large positions. This adjustment aims to broaden the pool of potential candidates, making it easier to recruit qualified individuals and ultimately reduce the number of vacancies on the board. By opening these positions to residents from throughout the county, the Cultural Council hopes to ensure better representation and a more diverse set of perspectives.
Alternatives: The Board could choose not to approve the proposed amendments to the bylaws.
