Purpose and Request:
recommended action
Consistent with county financial policies, the Facilities and Fleet Management department is seeking approval of fixed asset numbers to procure vehicles associated with new investigator positions as well as mock courtroom equipment procured by the District Attorney's Office.

Background and Discussion: Vehicles assigned to the 18th Judicial District Attorney's Office are primarily provided through an existing leasing agreement with a third-party vendor, continuing existing operational practices prior to the transition to a single-county office. As the County owns and maintains its existing fleet, the intent was to transition away from leased vehicles, providing the same number of fleet vehicles as the DA's Office maintained in 2024, with take-home vehicles assigned to investigators and the District Attorney, the Assistant District Attorney, the Senior Chief Deputy District Attorney, the Chief Deputy District Attorney of Intake. of Intake and all investigators.
The District Attorney's Office currently has an investigator position that does not have a vehicle. Additionally, the Board of County Commissioners approved a new investigator during the Q1 2025 supplemental budget, with another investigator recommended for approval in the 2026 budget process.
