end
Background:
body
Pursuant to Section 20-1-301, C.R.S., the Boards of County Commissioners of the counties comprising the Eighteenth Judicial District must set the annual salary of the District Attorney for the succeeding four-year term. The salary for this position must be fixed prior to the beginning of the term in office and cannot be changed thereafter.
The Board met with Douglas County Commissioners and District Attorney-Elect Kellner during a public meeting December 10, 2020, to review comparable salaries of elected officials from adjacent judicial districts as well as the historical salary of the current District Attorney. Similar discussions also were held with Elbert and Lincoln counties.
Discussion:
The Commissioners and District Attorney-Elect discussed salary proposals, reaching consensus on the following annual salary for his term beginning in January 2021 and ending January 2024 as follows:
2021: $216,000
2022: $223,000
2023: $230,000
2024: $236,000
This represents an annual increase of 3%.
