Approval of an Arbitration Stipulation

end

Purpose and Request:

recommended action

The purpose of this request is for the adoption of a resolution approving the Arbitration stipulation listed below

end

Background and Discussion: This stipulation is the result of an agreement reached between the taxpayer and the County regarding a reduction in the amount of property tax owed, settling an arbitration request of a taxpayer protest.

The following schedule number has been stipulated to (for the tax years 2021/2022):

Property Owner

Parcel Number

Reason

Original  Value

Stipulated Value

Karen Kay Buss

1973-36-1-44-003

*see below

$216,200

$207,000

*Comparable market sales indicate that adjustment to this value is correct.

Alternatives: Let protest proceed to arbitration for a decision.  This would involve unnecessary time and expense for the County and the taxpayer.

Fiscal Impact: Minimal.  Reduction in the amount of property taxes collected for the above listed properties.

Alignment with Strategic Plan:

                     Be fiscally sustainable

                     Provide essential and mandated service

                     Be community focused

Concurrence: The appeals coordinator for the County Board of Equalization, the County Assessor and the County Attorney all support this recommendation.

Resolution:  Attach a copy of the draft resolution.
