Purpose and Request:
recommended action
Staff requests the Board of County Commissioners to approve the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with the City of Centennial for the creation of the temporary grant funded Centennial Outreach Liaison position.

Background and Discussion:
The City of Centennial has seen an increase in their unhoused population over the last two years. Due to this increase, they would like to provide additional resources and assistance to those experiencing homelessness in their community, in partnership with Arapahoe County. The specific needs of The City center around the need for direct outreach and resource sharing to those unhoused in the community, specifically in encampments.
Community Resources staff and The City of Centennial's staff have developed an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) to create a Centennial Homeless Outreach Liaison position. This position would be funded fully by the City of Centennial, with supervision, equipment, and in-kind being provided by the county. These costs would include technology and equipment, office space, and supervision time.
The focus of the Liaison position will be direct outreach to individuals experiencing homelessness in Centennial, at times in tandem with the Sheriff's Office, to provide resources and information, in order to assist individuals with obtaining the resources they need to secure housing and services. In addition, this position will work with County and City leadership to develop a workplan, identify trends, and collect data on those encountered.
