Background and Discussion: Historically, the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office has provided law enforcement services within the boundaries of the portion of the Town of Bennett located in Arapahoe County. The Town now seeks to have the Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office provide law enforcement services for the entire Town. In the course of providing law enforcement services to the citizens of the Town of Bennett, a working relationship has been established between the Sheriff's Office and the citizens of the Town of Bennett. The Sheriff's Office has developed a close working relationship with the Town, and the Town believes centralizing its law enforcement services with the Sheriff's Office will benefit its citizens. The type of law enforcement services provided by the Sheriff Office within the boundaries of the Town will be similar to the law enforcement services provided in unincorporated areas of the County of Arapahoe, except that the Sheriff's Office will be authorized to enforce the Town's municipal ordinances and will include law enforcement communication center services.
Fiscal Impact: This Agreement for Service will generate $502,129 (approximately) in annualized revenue to the Arapahoe Law Enforcement Authority, as opposed to the $44,919.88 in annualized revenue generated under the existing Agreement with the Town of Bennett.
Alternatives: If the Board declines this agreement...
