Purpose and Request:

The Weatherization Division is requesting approval, outside of the established budget process, to replace vehicle # 3146 (Fixed Asset # 301094) (2008 Chevy Cargo Van) with a new off the lot, all wheel or four-wheel drive vehicle, not to exceed the approved grant funding sum of $92,000.00. The new vehicle's Fixed Asset # will be: 303812. The intended use for the new vehicle is to provide safe travel in all weather conditions for the Weatherization Division's Furnace Technicians.

Background and Discussion: As part of the Colorado Energy Office Weatherization program, funds are made available, for the purpose of providing transportation of weatherization materials, tools, equipment, and work crews to the site of weatherization work. (10 CRF 440.18(d)(3) The Weatherization Division currently has two vehicles on order that have had a delayed delivery. One was ordered in 2021, the other was ordered in 2022, neither have arrived. The approved Grant funding for the purchase of the vehicles is set to expire in June 2024. To ensure approved use of the grant allocation, the Weatherization Division is requesting that Facilities and Fleet Management be allowed to purchase an on the lot vehicle to replace a 2008 Chevy Cargo van with a new vehicle that will provide safe travel in all weather conditions for the Weatherization Division's Furnace Technicians

Fiscal Impact: All fiscal impacts of purchasing the new vehicle will be funded by the Colorado Energy Office's Weatherization grant. There will be no impact to the County's general fund.
